Quess Who?
Guess who's the #1 store this week? Go ahead, guess. Yes! It's mine, mine, mine! Too excited for words! Not only was my store in the top slot but we were the only positive stores in the batch! Last week the numbers didn't even go out. Of course no one wanted to see them either. We were in the negative so assumed that all store were hit so bad that the owner declined to send the ranks out. That was a close assumption but not completly accurate. All stores were in the negative but ours? Ours was the least losing of that batch of losers too! lol Funny huh? Well I guess you gotta keep your ego in check.;)

I'm losing one of my girls next week. I'm not too excited about it. Feels like a mother bird letting her young fly out of the nest. I'm happy for her but going to miss her. I've had this chick under my wing for some time.

So now I'm hiring a lady that is older, more mature. I hope. I'm fully aware maturity has little to do with age these days. She apparently needs a job in the worse way. You know my instinct tells me, there may be more to her than meets the eye. I really need to trust my instincts. But then I think there's always more than meets the eye with anybody. I'll do her interview and that expensive personality test. Oh yeah, I say silly but damn thing hasn't been wrong yet. It's weird.

I hate to mess with my staff too much. They're just right at the moment. So this change comes at a bad time for me. And to think I was ready to turn over the staff as owner thought it may be necessary. Now I just don't want to. We've come through so much. Everyone has really put on their A-game so to speak. Going up against other stores doesn't seem so daunting now. We have this bad ass attitude of, "Bring it! We'll kick your asses!"

What I've learned since taking on this store is that I will never ever do something so stupid again. No matter what the pay. Forget it. The position is too much stress, too much hassle and too much heartache.

I'm better if there's anyone out there keeping up with the health-o-meter. I'm not sure what I had and I swear whatever it was I do not want to experience it again. I still feel the affect it had on my chest. I keep coughing thinking I have a little liquid stuck in my lungs. Sorry best description I could come up with.

Glad to hear that you're feeling better and that you're psyched about work.

It is so sad that I take work this serious.

YAY!!!! Gwen is better :doing happy dance:

Congrats on the stuff going so well at work. You know, from reading your posts and talking to you, I think you'd be one helluva good employer!! You can hire me anytime. Although, I've learned, that friendships and work don't mix. At the end you lose one or the other.

Well, they do say that don't they? I'll be the exception to the rule. I'm bigger than the job or at least my heart is. Think this girl and I can still maintain a friendship outside of work. I'm not happy about the short notice. Damn straight. I let her know that too. But she also knows I wish her the best and still want to know what's going on in her life. Too many years working together to just write each other off.

Yes, I am much better. It does sorta annoy me that work consumes me the way this LJ shows. Sad.

#1! Great job! Hopefully this changes won't spoil that great team of yours, I'm sure you can make things work just as nicely with a new person on board.

Well we'll see. Unfortunately, we so close as a family, we're hard to break into. We give people a chance so it's not so much a clique as a family. You don't just add in a new brother or sister. Damn I'm not looking forward to all this.

Actually mine is a family bussiness so I understand that quite well!

A new girl comes to work in my office tomorrow and I'm hoping she'll be nice. We haven't been lucky - first we hired a useless dumbhead and the next one suddenly developped a psychotic thing and went gaga scaring everyone about hearing the babies crying (the babies, she said, that lived in the baby clothing store across the street!)

So I really hope you have good luck with this new person and she can fit into your "family".

Congrats, Gwen! :D I am so happy for you, you totally deserve it!!

I hope. I'm fully aware maturity has little to do with age these days.

Thank you so much! Nothing bugs me more than when older people assume that because I am a teenager all I have on my brain 24/7 is sex, drugs and alcohol and that my maturity level is in the negatives. Which isn't entirely true. ;) Yes, I am a teenager, but believe it or not, I do have a brain, and I'm quite mature.

I'm sorry you have to say goodbye to one of your employees. :( I hope that the change goes over well and doesn't cause you any hassel.

So glad you are back! :D *kisses and hugs*

Oh yeah I know it's true about age-ism(sp?) It's easy to assume older will be wiser but I know there's a bunch of ridiculously inmature adults running around this planet.

*smirks at the term that Marg used so much when premoting IGC* Yep, you nailed it. But don't get me wrong, there are still lots of immature young people, I'm an example at times. :)
